Well this is interesting:
THE MCC PROGRAM
The government’s First Time Homebuyer Tax Credit recently expired, but qualified homebuyers have access to similar tax credits all year long through the Mortgage Credit Certificate Program. In many cases, the program provides an annual savings of up to $2,000 which translates in to $165 in possible savings each month for homeowners. Under FHA guidelines, this monthly amount can reduce the borrower’s P&I payment for qualification purposes.
To qualify for an MCC Program, homebuyers must purchase a home in a participating county and cannot exceed the maximum household income and home purchase price limits. The participating counties and income/purchase price limits can be found in the MCC Program section of each state’s website.
